Snacking these days has become a culture. It’s all about the snack, yet most are not so healthy, indulgents and almost always have to be junky or unhealthy. But does it have to be? No way! I agree snack food has to be fun, small and delicious, but who says it has to be unhealthy? Today I will share a delicious, energy boosting easy snack to replace the usually sweet treats that you will love. My Raw Choco-raspberry bites.
Going back to snacks, by definition a snack is food for light meals or for eating between meals. In this definition there is no mention of healthy, junky, sweet, fattening, greasy, indulgent, or anything like that. However when I ask someone what their favorite snack is it’s always something junky, greasy, fried, and indulgent. Usually foods that taste good at the moment but do not fill you up, give you energy or satisfy you for more than 10 min.
Healthy Snacking
Healthy snacking is my mission in life. I am here to teach people how to make a delicious raw choco-raspberry bite, or your own ice lollies, or homemade chips instead of grabbing for that package of something that is processed and uses unhealthy ingredients like additives and bad oils. You can check out my cookbook on healthy snacks Switch It Up!
What is a healthy snack?
To me a healthy snack is a mini meal that has some healthy fat, some protein, and some carbs. Just like meals we should have balance, so should snacks. By doing this you are feeding your body what it needs and it will keep you happy, and going until the next meal. It will also keep your metabolism working and your body will not store the food to fats as you are continually feeding it.
Mix and match
Snacks are about mixing and matching. It’s a little of this, and a little of that. You can then mix it all together to get a new creation like my Raw choco-raspberry bites of you can eat them separately on a plate and have a mini meal. These are some examples of healthy snack plates always including healthy fats, proteins, and some carbs. Recipes are in my cookbook.
Now onto today’s feature recipe Raw Choco-Raspberry bites. Making a snack plate is pretty easy, just throwing together a little of this and a little of that from your fridge and pantry.
